My friend saw some sort of early 2000s Japanese wagon earlier today. He said it looked like a Stagea like this one, except the taillights didn’t go all the way up to the roof. Any ideas?
Edit- Things it’s not:
Legnum/Galant/Lancer/Diamante
Primera
Mark II Blit
Volvo V70 (Looks kinda like a Stagea)

Suzuki Verona/Daewoo Magnus on
Wagon form. It is a Giugaro design! I’m pretty sure. Though cannot find other pics.

Could it actually be a Stagea? But the C34 series 2 ? It’s got an almost- 2000's front with a 90's back. It’s the only thing I can think of that matches your description other than a Nissan Avenir GT4 , but they look more Legacy than Stagea.

It’s a Nissan Stagea Autech AXIS 350S, built on an M35. That’s why the Autech badge, bottom right bumper. These came with Autech bodykit and 2004+ taillights, which you see here.
Has a VQ35DE putting down 200KW (~280HP) and is the only M35 Stagea with a manual option.
It’s definitely a unicorn either way. Production run was all of 8 months, and it’s known to be very rare.
Here’s a 2004 M35 250RX FOUR with the full-height taillights:
